What Is Root Canal Therapy?
Inside each tooth is a soft inner layer called the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels.
When this tissue becomes inflamed or infected, it can lead to pain and further complications if not treated.
Root canal therapy involves removing the affected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the inner canals, and sealing the tooth to help prevent reinfection. This allows the tooth to remain in place while restoring its function.
Local anesthesia is used during the procedure. In many cases, a dental crown may be recommended afterward to help protect and support the treated tooth.
